Three things:
First, the poverty line here for a family is something like $120k/yr, so you have to adjust for that. My rent alone in a small apartment is ~$4.5k/mo! So while money flows like crazy here, certain expenses are still crazy.
Second, there's a lot of luck involved in my current comp. Joining an industry in an area that greatly prefers throwing stock at new hires right before a huge multiple expansion in tech stocks means you'll see atypical results. I definitely lucked out.
Third, I just helped a bunch of senior/staff/principal ex-coworkers leave their jobs (making between $150k-250k) for remote Silicon Valley jobs and all received huge pay bumps. If you're dissatisfied it's always worth looking, especially right now given the hiring problems.
